Try running something like http://www.pingplotter.com/ see if you got any problems, my AV still updates even when switched off which can be a pain. try running with sound disabled helps (in options not just turning speakers off)

I only just came back after a break, quick scan of forums shows not much has changed. I cant help thinking with all the fanboys saying how important it is for Dev's/GM to play the game and at high lvl, why some of these bugs/features still persist...
